This is a vintage Miska kancsó jug (which is representative of a pipe-smoking Magyar herdsman or gulyás). The jug is modelled after a Hussar, a cavalry soldier in the Hungarian army, celebrating their courage and bravery. It is made of redware pottery and features hand-painted details depicting a traditional uniform, including a prominent moustache.
These items were produced in the southeastern region of Hungary and often passed down through generations.
